Manchester City came from behind twice to beat Arsenal 4-2 at the Etihad Stadium. Arsenal were the better team in the first half, with Lisa Baum, Emily Fox, and Georgia Stanway all going close. Baum gave Arsenal the lead late in the first half, but replays showed she may have been offside.

City's leveller had a level of controversy to it, as Mariona Caldentey asked to come off and went down injured, but City played on. Thirty-five seconds later, Lauren Hemp forced an own goal off Emily Fox, with Arsenal furious the ball was not put out of play in a sporting gesture.

The second half continued with drama, as Alessia Russo curled Arsenal ahead again after an error while playing out from the back by Ayaka Yamashita. However, City would turn the game on its head again, with Kerstin Casparij curling a stunner into the far corner just 65 seconds after coming off the bench.

Hemp then put City ahead for the first time as the Arsenal defence switched off, allowing her to finish at the far post. Shaw got her customary goal late on as Arsenal committed bodies forward.

The pre-match talk surrounded the pressure Renee Slegers and her team were under, with many claiming defeat would put Arsenal out of the Women's Super League title fight after just five games. Slegers said she feels the international break will come at a good time to change environments and that there will be a 'big review of our season so far' during the break.

Slegers added that she feels the club's support and is 'full of energy' to turn their form around. She believes the team will be 'really good' when they get the margins on their side.

The match was played in a subdued atmosphere outside the stadium, but the hosts' supporters were thoroughly enjoying themselves as City began to take control in the second half.
