Harris Injured
Tobias Harris, the San Antonio Spurs' newest addition, will have to wait for his Spurs debut as he’s questionable with a strained left calf. He will miss the preseason and is uncertain for the regular season opener against Oklahoma City on October 20.

San Antonio Spurs forward Tobias Harris will miss the preseason due to a strained left calf suffered during training camp. He is also questionable for the start of the regular season.
Harris did not participate in the team’s annual intrasquad Silver & Black scrimmage on Sunday. The 6-foot-8 power forward will be reevaluated following the team’s five-game preseason schedule.
Spurs Head Coach Mitch Johnson said the team would not rush Harris back, adding there isn’t a cause for concern. Harris signed a two-year contract with San Antonio after spending the past two seasons with Detroit.
Harris averaged 13.3 points, 5.1 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 27.7 minutes last season. Julian Champagnie is expected to fill Harris’ shoes in the starting unit.
Champagnie earned himself a big payday after his breakout season a year ago, which saw him become a threat from outside and a key cog in this young Spurs team’s rise to the NBA Finals.
Spurs assistant coach Billy Donovan drew up a play for Champagnie, who knocked down a triple from the top of the key. Champagnie also attacked the rim and drove inside instead of settling for three-pointers.
The Spurs will begin their preseason on Thursday. David Jones-Garcia, who underwent surgery earlier in the year after suffering an ankle injury, has been re-signed to a two-way contract and has returned to the court.
