India, Switzerland Sign 5 Agreements

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Swiss President Guy Parmelin held delegation-level talks in New Delhi on Monday.

The two countries exchanged several Memoranda of Understanding in the presence of Modi and Parmelin at Hyderabad House.

Modi highlighted the growing momentum in bilateral relations, particularly following the implementation of the Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement between India and the European Free Trade Association.

The agreement is India's first Free Trade Agreement with any economic bloc in Europe, according to Modi.

The Prime Minister said the agreement will increase market access for India's exports in Switzerland and facilitate investment between the two countries.

The signing of the Migration and Mobility Partnership Agreement and Young Professionals Agreement will open up new opportunities in Switzerland for Indian students, researchers, professionals, and youth.

Parmelin is on a three-day state visit to India at the invitation of Modi, with a focus on enhancing bilateral collaboration across commerce, investment, scientific advancement, technological innovation, and workforce mobility.

President Parmelin received a ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhavan during his visit.
