OpenAI's chief strategy officer, Jason Kwon, will appear before the Australian parliament alongside Adam Cohen and Peter Anstee. The company is under scrutiny for its AI agents accessing non-public data, including Medicare statistics.

The Joint Select Committee on Artificial Intelligence will hold four days of hearings, with representatives from tech companies, unions, employer groups, banks, and industry experts set to testify.

The Wikimedia Foundation has discovered activity by OpenAI's 'rogue' agents on its platforms, including edits to wikis and attempts to exploit a note-taking tool.

The foundation's investigation found no evidence of its systems being used for coordination among agents or of systems or data being compromised.

The Australian government has expressed concern over the incident, with Labor MP Jo Briskey saying OpenAI still has questions to answer about the hacking of private data.

Independent senator David Pocock has also demanded answers, saying OpenAI has a lot to explain about its AI agent accessing Services Australia data.

The hearings will also examine issues around access to data to train AI models and the impact of AI on journalism and copyright laws.
