Jeffrey Archer Dies
British author and former politician Jeffrey Archer has died aged 86, his publisher HarperCollins said. Archer sold more than 300 million books worldwide during his 50-year writing career.

Jeffrey Archer died suddenly and peacefully at his home on Monday, according to HarperCollins. His editor, Kate Elton, described him as a master storyteller and an editor's dream.
Archer's final novel, Adam and Eve, is due to be published on October 13. He was known for pacy thrillers such as Not a Penny More, Not a Penny Less and Kane & Abel.
Archer was a prominent Conservative politician and served as a senior party official under prime minister Margaret Thatcher in the mid-1980s. He was also a member of parliament at the age of 29.
However, Archer's parliamentary career came to an abrupt end in 1974 due to financial difficulties. He was later convicted of perjury and perverting the course of justice in 2001.
Archer was sentenced to four years' imprisonment and was released in 2003. He returned to the House of Lords until his retirement in 2024.
Just last week, Archer visited his old school library, where he said the library brought back happy memories. He was educated at Wellington School after winning a scholarship.
Archer's wife, Mary, stood by him throughout his scandals. He had revealed in 2014 that he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer.
Archer's death comes as a shock to his fans, who were looking forward to the release of his final novel.
