Rowan Atkinson, known for his iconic characters Mr Bean and Blackadder, will return to the West End stage after a 40-year absence. Atkinson, 71, found fame in the late 1970s with the BBC sketch show Not The Nine O’Clock News.
The actor became a household name in the 1980s with the mock-historical comedy Blackadder, and later gained global recognition in the 1990s with the TV series Mr Bean. Atkinson co-created and starred in the show as the largely silent and chaotic character.

Atkinson said he thought it would be fun to perform again the sketches that began his career, alongside some surprise new material written especially for the show. Curtis, who has frequently collaborated with Atkinson, said it was a joy and honour to be part of the show.
The show's music will be composed by Howard Goodall, and it will be directed by Raz Shaw. Rowan Live is presented by Playful Productions in association with PBJ Management.
Atkinson's return to the West End stage marks his first live show in over a decade. The actor has previously performed in several stage productions, including a one-man show in the West End in 1981 and another in 1986.
