A Singapore Armed Forces full-time national serviceman has died after being found unconscious at the foot of a building at Basic Military Training School 3. The incident happened at about 1.22pm on Thursday.
The Ministry of Defence said the serviceman was immediately conveyed to the Pulau Tekong Medical Centre for emergency treatment and subsequently evacuated via helicopter to Singapore General Hospital. He arrived at the hospital at 2.05pm and was pronounced dead at 2.27pm.
The police were alerted to the case at 2.40pm and are investigating. The Ministry of Defence and the Singapore Armed Forces have extended their deepest condolences to the family of the deceased.
The serviceman was not involved in any training at the time of the incident. The cause of death is still being investigated.
Pulau Tekong is home to the Singapore Armed Forces' Basic Military Training Centre, where many full-time national servicemen undergo basic military training after enlistment.
