Spotify Expands Audiobooks
Audiobooks on Spotify will be available in over 180 markets by the end of 2026, with more than 350,000 titles in over 120 languages. This expansion will allow listeners in new markets to access a wide range of audiobooks, including new catalogs in Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Polish, and more.
By the end of 2026, listeners in more than 180 markets will be able to find their next great book on Spotify, right alongside the music and podcasts they already love. This expansion will make audiobooks available to more than 750 million people around the world.
The expansion will introduce more than 350,000 titles, including new catalogs in multiple languages, to listeners in new markets. Owen Smith, VP of Audiobooks at Spotify, said that books change how people see the world and that audiobooks are a way for many people to find their way back to reading.
Users in new markets will have several ways to access audiobooks on Spotify. The company is also introducing two new features: Page Match, which allows readers to move between print, e-book, and audio formats, and Audiobooks+, which lets Spotify Premium users purchase extra audiobook listening time.
Page Match works in over 30 languages and allows readers to scan a book's ISBN barcode and use page numbers to find their place. Audiobooks+ will be available to users on a Student plan in Ireland, Belgium, Austria, and Finland starting in November.
Spotify first introduced audiobooks to its Premium service three years ago. The company believes that authors should find the largest possible audience and has made all of its partnerships non-exclusive to help unlock new ways for writers to reach readers around the world.
