Donald Trump's rally in San Antonio was disrupted by repeated protests on Wednesday. At least half a dozen demonstrators interrupted the US president during his remarks.

Trump briefly stepped away from the microphone after one protester appeared to approach the stage. The president said the protester was 'going back home to mom' and claimed without evidence that protesters were 'paid by enemies of our nation'.

The rally was held to support Senate candidate Ken Paxton, who is running a close race against Democratic state Rep. James Talarico. Trump described Paxton as 'perhaps the greatest attorney general in the United States of America'.

Trump also addressed recent comments he made about Iran, saying the country would not be allowed to destroy US cities. He claimed that if Iran were to hit a US city, it would lead to 'a country that would be in freefall'.

The president's supporters started lining up for the rally at 2:30 pm. Many said they were there to see Trump, rather than the local candidates he was supporting.

The rally was Trump's fourth visit to Texas in six weeks. His PACs are now some of the biggest spenders in Texas races as the GOP fights to hold onto its majorities in the US House and Senate.

Outside the rally, supporters said they were excited to see the president. One attendee, Brooks Chastain, said he chose the rally as his birthday wish so he could see Trump.
