Body Found in NSW Stock Dip
Two trail bike riders made the grim discovery on a remote property south of Murwillumbah. Police are treating the death as suspicious due to the location and lack of transportation nearby.

A body believed to be female was found partially submerged in a disused stock dip on Crown land in Terragon, NSW, on Monday morning. The discovery was made by two trail bike riders who were travelling along a track and stopped to look inside the disused livestock treatment tank.
The body was found about 300 metres from the roadway, down an overgrown track, and was partially submerged in about half a metre of water. Detective Inspector Matt Zimmer said the body was badly decomposed, making it impossible to provide further details.
A crime scene was established overnight, and detectives and specialist forensic police examined the scene and body on Tuesday morning. A post-mortem examination will be conducted in the coming days to help establish the woman's identity and cause of death.
Police are checking missing persons registers in both NSW and Queensland, but so far, no link has been established. The location of the body, the remoteness of the area, and the absence of a vehicle or other mode of transport have led police to treat the death as suspicious.
Detective Inspector Zimmer said the body was found by chance when the two riders inspected the livestock dip while riding on a nearby trail. They contacted emergency services, and police and paramedics attended the scene, confirming it was a body.
Police have canvassed neighbouring properties and taken statements from residents. Anyone with information is urged to contact Tweed Heads Police or Crime Stoppers.
The property where the body was found is located about 20 kilometres south of Murwillumbah and roughly an hour southwest of the Gold Coast. The investigation is ongoing, and police are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the woman's death.
