Spotify Expands Audiobooks
Audiobooks on Spotify will be available in over 180 markets by the end of 2026, with more than 350,000 titles in over 120 languages. The expansion will allow listeners in new markets to access audiobooks, including new catalogs in Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Polish, and more.
By the end of 2026, listeners in more than 180 markets will be able to find their next great book on Spotify, right alongside the music and podcasts they already love. This expansion will make audiobooks available to more than 750 million people around the world.
The expansion means that users in new markets will have access to more than 350,000 titles, including new catalogs in multiple languages. Owen Smith, VP of Audiobooks at Spotify, said that books change how we see the world and the people in it.
Smith also said that for a lot of people, audiobooks are how they find their way back to reading, on the commute, on a walk, or at the end of a long day. Bringing audiobooks to more than 180 markets means millions more people can discover that, and authors and publishers can reach readers they’ve never been able to reach before.
Alongside the expansion, Spotify is introducing two new features: Page Match and Audiobooks+. Page Match allows users to move between print, e-book, and audio formats of a book, and it will now include page numbers.
Audiobooks+ will allow Spotify Premium users to purchase extra audiobook listening time on top of their existing base plan. It will also allow members on Premium Family and Duo plans to get 15 hours of audiobook listening a month through a recurring add-on.
Spotify first brought audiobooks into Premium three years ago to build a better home for book lovers, authors, and publishers. The company believes that authors should find the largest possible audience, and all of its partnerships are non-exclusive.
The expansion of audiobooks on Spotify is expected to have a significant impact on the way people consume books. With the introduction of new features and the availability of audiobooks in multiple languages, Spotify is poised to become a major player in the audiobook market.
