Cans for Humanity Seeks 30,000 Cans
Be Heartfelt and Tower for Humanity will host the 4th Annual Cans for Humanity at Micronesia Mall on Oct. 10-11 to collect canned food for children in need. The event aims to collect 30,000 cans of food to support Be Heartfelt's Meal Pack Program.
Be Heartfelt and Tower for Humanity will host the 4th Annual Cans for Humanity at Micronesia Mall on Oct. 10-11. The event brings together businesses, schools, churches, military groups, nonprofits, student organizations, clubs, and community members to help feed children experiencing food insecurity throughout Guam.
Participating teams will use donated canned food to build creative structures throughout Micronesia Mall. The goal is to collect 30,000 cans of food, which will help support Be Heartfelt's Meal Pack Program.
The Meal Pack Program provides food to children who may otherwise face weekends and school breaks without dependable access to meals. Be Heartfelt and Tower for Humanity have received support from Micronesia Mall, Coast360 Federal Credit Union, George Washington High School, and other organizations.
Community members can participate in Cans for Humanity by donating canned food at community collection locations or bringing canned food directly to the event. Volunteers are also needed to help with unloading cans, moving donations, and assisting teams.
Lori Marsh Marble, President and Founder of Be Heartfelt, said the event is about reminding the community that behind every can is a child. She wants children to know that their community sees them, loves them, and cares about what happens to them.
Students can earn community service and service-learning hours by volunteering at the event. Be Heartfelt and Tower for Humanity are grateful for the support of local churches, schools, businesses, and volunteers throughout the island.
