Nuit Blanche Marks 20 Years
The all-night arts festival in Toronto features over 70 projects by local, national, and international artists. The event's theme, Tomorrow’s Memories, aims to create memories for the future.

Nuit Blanche returns to Toronto, marking 20 years since the city first hosted the event. This year's festival features more than 70 projects by local, national, and international artists, institutions, and community partners.
The theme of the event is Tomorrow’s Memories, which according to Jeanne Holmes, manager of city cultural events programming with the City of Toronto, is about creating memories that people will have in the future.
The projects will be scattered across the downtown core and the waterfront, as well as in neighbouring municipalities like Etobicoke and North York. The event takes place between 7 p.m. Saturday and 7 a.m. Sunday.
Holmes said there is no wrong way to experience the event, and patrons can start at any location, including Nathan Phillips Square or the Aga Khan.
The TTC Lines 1 and 2 will remain open until 8 a.m. on Sunday morning to accommodate festival-goers. Several road closures will be in place to accommodate the event, beginning at 12 p.m. on Oct. 3 and remaining in place until noon on Oct. 4.
Local traffic will be permitted on certain streets, and some TTC routes will be diverting due to the road closures. Motorists should expect delays downtown, Toronto police said.
The event has become embedded in the city's memory, and this year's festival is expected to push the city into the next decade, according to Holmes.
