Bayern Munich have entered the race to sign Manchester United's 16-year-old forward JJ Gabriel, who turned 16 on Tuesday and is now eligible to sign for European clubs.

Gabriel's representatives have demanded a seven-figure salary, which Bayern Munich are unwilling to meet, according to people close to the situation.

Manchester United still hold Gabriel's registration, and the club have made multiple attempts to reconcile the situation as part of their duty of care to the teenager.

Gabriel's decision to seek a move away from Manchester United was triggered by his non-inclusion in Michael Carrick's side for the Champions League encounter with Azerbaijani champions Sabah FK on 10 September.

Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in signing Gabriel, who has been included in Manchester United's official team photo for this season despite the rift with the club.

Manchester United will consider legal action if any evidence of an illegal inducement by a club or agent emerges, but this is not a concern for Gabriel and his camp.

Gabriel's camp had expressed a desire for him to be used as a substitute against Sabah FK, which would have made him Manchester United's youngest ever player.
