Order of the Sinking Star Release
Jonathan Blow's new puzzle game features 1,500 puzzles and a star-studded voice cast, including Emily O'Brien and Liam O'Brien. The game is set to be released on Thursday.

Jonathan Blow, the American developer behind the genre-defining puzzle-platformer Braid, has been working on his new game, Order of the Sinking Star, for ten years. The game is due to be released on Thursday and features roughly 1,500 puzzles that Blow estimates could take around 500 hours to complete.
The game's voice cast includes Emily O'Brien as The Queen, Liam O'Brien as The Warrior, Darin De Paul as The Wizard, Anjali Bhimani as The Bard, Erica Luttrell as the Sailor, and Matthew Waterson as The Druid. Jonathan Blow also makes a special appearance in the game.
Order of the Sinking Star is a puzzle adventure game that features four distinct worlds, each with its own mechanics, characters, and stories. The game's design is based on the mechanics of four pre-existing free puzzle games from other designers, which are then combined to create brand-new brainteasers.
Blow says that he makes games based on the design, rather than what is practical or makes business sense. He believes that this approach has allowed him to create unique games, including Braid and The Witness.
The game's release comes after a decade of development, during which time the industry has grown and the culture for developers has changed. Blow has been critical of the industry in the past, calling social media games such as Farmville 'evil' and World of Warcraft's quest design 'unethical'.
In December 2025, Alan Hazelden publicly distanced himself from Blow, writing that he was 'dismissive of diversity efforts' and 'pro-MAGA'. Blow has not responded to these critiques publicly.
Order of the Sinking Star will be available on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and PC. The game's store page lists full audio in only English and Simplified Chinese.
