Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service was called to the city centre at 10:30pm on Monday after reports of the blaze. Properties in the surrounding area were evacuated as a precaution, and firefighters are continuing to tackle the fire.

The fire affected several businesses, including Market Street Dental Care, Josephine's restaurant, The Souvlaki restaurant, Revolucion de Cuba bar, and a Candyzone shop. Market Street Dental Care was closed due to the fire, and Josephine's staff were unable to access the restaurant.

There are severe delays across Nottingham City Transport services due to the fire, with several roads in the city centre remaining closed. Trams have been halted through the city centre, and road closures include Upper Parliament Street, Lower Parliament Street, Market Street, King Street, and Queen Street.

Residents have been advised to keep windows and doors closed, and an investigation into the cause of the fire will take place later. The fire service said a reduced presence remained at the scene just after 6am on Tuesday.

Nottingham City Transport has announced diversions on all services, with severe delays expected if roads remain closed over the morning rush hour. The city's tram has been stopped in both directions between Theatre Royal and Market Square.

The cause of the fire is unknown, and the fire service has urged people to avoid the area and find alternative routes if possible. Fire service crews remain on scene and are likely to be there for several more hours.

Properties affected by the fire include residential buildings, and residents have been evacuated as a precaution. The fire service has said that there have been no reported injuries so far.
